Native Nation Rebuilders Program Accepting Applications

Native Nation Rebuilders Program

Are you interested in joining over 150 Native leaders from across the region in becoming a Native Nation Rebuilder? We built this program for citizens of the 23 Native nations in our region who have a passion for learning about innovative Tribal governance practices and ways to take these ideas and approaches to their own Native nations to make a positive difference.

Applications for Cohort 10 are now open!
See below for links to the required forms.

We invite nominations for the Rebuilders Program! Do you know someone who would make an excellent Rebuilder? Complete our online nomination form! We’ll reach out to the nominee and encourage them to submit an application. A nomination does not guarantee entrance into the program. An independent selection panel reviews and selects 20-25 individuals per cohort. Nominees must be an enrolled member of a Tribal Nation from Minnesota, North Dakota or South Dakota and 25 years of age. All nominations must be submitted by September 3, 2018.

A selection committee composed of individuals with expertise in nation building will evaluate each Rebuilder candidate according to his or her commitment to Native self-governance, leadership experience, knowledge of the issues facing his or her nation, and potential to help his or her nation.

In addition to the online application, applicants are asked to have two references submitted in support of their application. These references must be from two non-relatives who are familiar with your values, character, and goals. Applicants are asked to send an online form to their reference as part of the application process.

Rebuilder participants must make a commitment of time and energy. They are required to attend four separate sessions during the two-year program, which total four days in 2018 and 13 days in 2019.

Applicants are required to have a letter of support from their employer. The commitment will be to support the employee in this effort and to allow them time away from work to attend the sessions.
